Hi, everyone! I’m Dr. Sara Petska, an experienced optometrist now accepting new patients at Modern Vision Solutions in Omaha, Nebraska. I am thrilled to be joining a growing practice that delivers innovative solutions to your everyday (and complex) vision problems. I am accepting patients ages three and up and I can’t wait to provide you and your family with the comprehensive eye care you need.
I am originally from Grand Island, Nebraska and earned my bachelor’s degree in Chemistry at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. After falling in love with optometry while working in an optical throughout college, I attended the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. I graduated summa cum laude from optometry school in 2017 following the completion of rigorous clinical externships at renowned ophthalmology and optometry practices in the Kansas City area. I have practiced optometry in a variety of different office settings and communities over the last several years which has allowed me to gain experience in many areas of my field.
From ocular disease to surgical co-management and specialty contact lens fitting, I have a wide range of interests and skills. I’ve gained the experience and knowledge to offer personalized and tailored eye care solutions to suit your individual needs. I also have a particular interest in the management of progressive myopia, or near-sightedness, which is becoming increasingly common in young adults and children. We now have access to therapies that slow changes in myopia to reduce the medical and social burdens of having a strong prescription. Through the use of advanced technology and the latest techniques, I can help you achieve clear vision and keep your eyes healthy!
At Modern Vision Solutions, we provide what’s called an EyeAnalysis to all of our patients. This comprehensive analysis allows me to review the health of your eyes and refractive status to identify any potential concerns and address your visual needs. I am adept at the prescription of glasses and contact lenses but we also offer co-management for lifestyle enhancement procedures like LASIK and cataract surgery. If you’re looking for a solution that can help you be free of glasses or contacts, I would be happy to answer all of your questions regarding surgical refractive correction. I had LASIK in my early twenties and it was the best thing that’s ever happened to my eyes!
Outside of the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, friends, and two rescue dogs. I am married to a fellow optometrist and we have a young son that keeps us on our toes! You can usually find me working on home improvement projects, listening to true crime podcasts, or chasing my active toddler around the park. Being a working mother is the greatest joy of my life.
